When the concept of 'Fair Trade' became the new faddish and religious buzzword, I was suspicious. Perhaps it's because of the gargantuan scams associated with environmentalism, and perhaps it's because of my aversion to popular misconceptions packaged as religion by Yuppies. Very little has happened to change that mindset—that is, until I was introduced to a new concept: Beyond Fair Trade. But first, a little history.... These include the Hmong, the predominantly-Christian Karen, the Karenni and many other marginalized and disadvantaged peoples.
